Ta2ifeh + Ta2ifeh + Ta2ifeh = ?
Question to be asked...
And the answer is what we learned back in school:
"Ta2ifeh + Ta2ifeh + Ta2ifeh = 3 tawayif mish watan" Quoting Hdadeh
la2anno byiferdo.
"Khamsta3char wa7ad lebneneh... mish khamsta3ch, khamsta3char wa7ad , ya3neh wa7ad w wa7ad w wa7ad w wa7ad... Khamsta3char wa7ad." Quoting Rachid (Ziad Rahbani) in Film ameriki tawil
So why is it like that,
first I hope nobody will explain my post as an anti opposition post, I will soon have a post explaining why I am not that keen on saying I'm opposition.
But first things first,
the opposition we've been watching for a month now, downtown Beirut is calling itself national unity. I unfortunately in Toulouse, and so, I'm not down there to see for myself, so I can only believe what is being reported by Annahar and Almustaqbal ... and by all fellow bloggers keeping the world alive.
And each time a report speaks about the demos downtown Beirut it quotes :
Tony from the LF (read maronite), 3ala2 from the PSP (read Druze), or Fadia, a sunni from Beirut (read a sunni from Beirut).
Each time they talk about what's happening, they talk about the Christians, the Druze and the Sunnis going so well along, enno ekhweh. I may be talking about things from a somebody-who's-far-away point of view, but come on, the peak of irony is when a guy, trying to say he's secular, tells you he's got christian friends (for a muslim and vice versa). The height of irony is when you talk about the national unity of lebanese and still talk about the Maronites, the Druze and the Sunnis.
And if news reports got politically correct (to show the national unity), the bloggers out there (who represent the true image of what Lebanese society is like) are still all like: "enno look at the national unity, chouf, we have christians with us, we have druze and we have sunnis".
What is going on now is for me a big umbrella called "national unity", gathering three little umbrellas labeled "Maronites first", "Druze are the best" and "Sunni forever". and once the umbrella closed I fear the little umbrellas will still be labeled the same.
I hope I'm not right in all this, I hope I have the vision of someone who's only getting the taratish. someone who is not getting the vibes of it.
I'm not saying all Lebanese should be thinking alike, that would be a disaster. In the Lebanon i see in my dreams, I see people thinking very much differently but still, putting Lebanon's sake in front of their eyes and far ahead their community's or their village's sake.
I hope that what is going on in Lebanon nowadays is a true national unity, that Lebanese got secular and won't think of others based on what religion is written on their ikhraj l 2eid but rather based on how they think. I hope that once the goal of these demos are met, the big umbrella that is now gathering eveybody, once closed will show the little umbrellas underneath it, and on each umbrella will be written Lebanon and only Lebanon. Each umbrella will cover Lebanese for the sake of a better Lebanon. Each umbrella should put Lebanon first on the agenda, all of them umbrellas, and start thinking about the best way to achieve a better Lebanon. Everyone as he sees it best and democratically try to convince people that his ideas are better. That is how it works everywhere else, and I think that is how it should work in Lebanon, once Lebanon becomes sovereign, democratic and secular. And for all this l lit every night a candle
