i am in barcelona and i did not watch the match
but why would i care
i was eating Tapas
and tapas are good stuff.
So i'm in barcelona for an IEEE conference. I listen all day long to guys who think they will change the world with the stuff they publish in Infocom's proceedings (and one day i'll become like these guys, telling nerd jokes and laughing along all the nerds around).
Observations :
about barcelona : barcelona is not that spanish after all. to my greatest despair, when i learned spanish back in the time i thaught it'll do me good one day when i go to spain. Now i lost my spanish and the "spanish" in barcelona speak catalan. It's not gracias, it's gràcie.
Barcelona is a magnificent city, with lots of french tourists. Lots of german tourists. Lots of spanish tourists. Cut it short, Lots of tourists.
Gaudi did a great job imagining all the stuff he imagined. Barcelona without Gaudi wouldn't be Barcelona.

about the conference:
Sometimes you get to a phase where you're fed up with all the lebanese you meet abroad. Now in the student workshop, 40 posters were accepted, 5 of them were submitted by lebanese (3 out of 5 are phDing in France (including ma7soubkom), 1 out of 5 in Switzerland, 1 out of 5 in Sweden, which leaves 0 out of 5 in Lebanon).
Mafias exist everywhere, even in IEEE conference.
One eats well in a conference.
Technically, there's quite lots of good stuff.
I've been to a talk by a guy who is supposed to be the guy who imagined the internet and created the principles of packet switching (he was a graduate student at MIT). Now this guy can say he modeled the world as it is now.
about the hotel:
i met in this hostel all kinds of people.
One of them is an iraki journalist. He is here with several other irakis and their kids. They are here because their kids need to be operated. Had several intersting discussions with him on how he sees the situation in Irak then and now.
tomorow i'll be going back to france.

3arab w ajenib. You even have the parisian mafia, the Korean mafia, the spanish mafia, the american mafia...
it's a pitty but the only arabs i met that work in arab countries are two guys from Saudi Aramco.
All the others (lebanese, egyptian, moroccan, tunisian, algerian, syrian...) work in europe or in america.
anywayz, now i'm back to the routine of toulouse(check mail, check blog, recheck mail, work a little bit...)
