صيفية الأعراس. 13 صيفية خلت و ما زلت تميز تلك الصيفية عن أخواتها. اما لأنها كانت مميزة بحق (مما يعني أنك أمضيت كل التي تلت متحسرا) أو أنّك كوّنت حولها هالة (سلام إلى هالة أينما كانت) دون سبب

The manifesto

I hereby would like to relay what I would like to call a Humanist Manifesto.

Since jimmy did not allow the comments on his post, I’d like to comment it here hoping he would find the way back to it.

I almost completely agree with almost the whole analysis and call stated in the Manifesto. I will thus not state the obvious: I won't copy paste what I agree with.

I will comment on what I would like to comment on.

First: On compromise and justice.
If justice is a feeling, the more compromise it goes through the more the feeling of justice would sound flat and tasteless. In order for a solution to be fair, some lines can not be crossed. I know no solution will be achieved without compromise, but justice will not be achieved when justice go through compromises.
I don't think compromise will achieve peace. Justice will.


Second: On the Nazis and their shame
I hope the world will not live to see a crime putting the Nazis to shame. Now Israel committed crimes, lots of them, even committed massacres and some long term ethnic-transfer plans. Israel is evil. But hey, the Nazis went way beyond that.


Now, I join Jimmy's call for the humanists to unite. Revolutionize the world. Resist.

Sur le nouveau moyen orient, le cessez le feu et les bombes intelligentes

Il a fallu aux Etats-Unis un massacre comme celui de Cana pour se rendre compte qu’un cessez le feu imminent (dans dix jours en gros) serait nécessaire au Liban.
Il a fallu à la communauté internationale la mort de 60 personnes d’un coup pour se rendre compte qu’il faudrait éventuellement (ré-)agir.

Le problème est que Olmert n’en as pas fait assez. Son projet et celui de l’administration américaine pour la région sont en cours, et ce ne seront pas 750 civils morts sous leurs bombes qui vont les en arrêter. Olmert souhaite construire sa gloire politique et militaire sur les restes des enfants du Liban.

Mais laissons ceci de coté, de toute façon le monde entier est dans le coma. La communauté internationale n’arrive toujours pas à comprendre qui est l’agresseur. Les politiciens français « amis d’Israël » continuent à se faire les avocats du diable. Les rédactions se désintéressent du Liban. Il a fallu le massacre à Cana, énième piqûre de rappel pour qu’on s’en souvienne, quelques jours encore, jusqu’au prochain contrôle positif de dopage.

De toute façon, ce n’est pas la faute aux israéliens. Si, un peu quand même. Mais pour ce massacre et pour tous les autres avant, et pour tous ceux à venir, ils ont eu et auront beaucoup de complices.
Les américains qui accélèrent la livraison de leurs armes intelligentes à Israël.
Les européens qui n’arrivent toujours pas à imposer un cessez le feu.
Les régimes arabes qui ont acquiescé, laissé faire, offert aux victimes un peu d’argent pour avoir la conscience tranquille.
Le monde qui a vu et revu des images de ce qui se passe dans la région depuis si longtemps, et qui, chaque fois, a donné raison à Israël et a réagi pathétiquement aux massacres.

Les images se suivent et se ressemblent. Cana en 1996. Cana en 2006. Et le monde réagi de la même façon :
« Nous condamnons, appelons à le retenue, souhaitons la paix. Nous pensons aux victimes innocentes et à leurs familles. Ces douleurs sont les douleurs d’accouchement du nouveau moyen orient ».

Pour avoir ce nouveau moyen orient, il a fallu ce nouveau massacre à Cana.
Dommage pour les victimes, elles ne verront pas la liberté promise. Le nouveau moyen orient les a écrasées en arrivant.

Mesdames et Messieurs, leaders de ce monde « libre »,

J’emmerde votre monde, ou les anges meurent et les démons se réveillent.(1)

Vous ne voulez pas qu’on vive ? Pire, vous voulez qu’on vive à la façon qui vous semble la plus adaptée à notre situation ? Celle que Condie dédaigne nous offrir ?

Ce que vous ne savez pas, c’est que nous avons notre avis sur le sujet. Que votre démocratie chérie s’applique à nous aussi.
Ce que vous semblez ignorer, c’est que nous refusons de vivre sous la botte de qui que ce soit. Que nous chérissons notre liberté tout comme vos peuples.
Ce qu’il faut que vous sachiez c’est que nous vomissons votre nouveau moyen orient. Que les douleurs en cours ne sont pas celles de l’accouchement de votre nouveau moyen orient, elles sont celles de son enterrement.
Sachez que nous le construirons notre nouveau moyen orient.
Le notre moyen orient ne sera pas celui de communautés religieuses qui se battent comme ce que vous avez mis en place en Iraq.
Le notre moyen orient ne sera pas celui de la suprématie américaine et israélienne tel que vous l’avez toujours souhaité.
Le notre moyen orient, celui de droit et de justice pour tous les peuples de la région. Le notre moyen orient, celui de paix et de liberté malgré votre réticence.

Vive la résistance du peuple libanais.
Vive le Liban.

Lieu : Bureau des étrangers, Préfecture de la Haute Garonne, 1 Place Saint Etienne à Toulouse.

Contexte : Récépissé de demande de changement de statut (3ème d'affilé depuis octobre) expire le lendemain. Et puis de toute façon, lorsqu'ils te la fileront ta carte de séjour, la vraie, tu vas devoir lancer la procédure de renouvellement. Alors à quoi bon?

Réflexions :

Me voilà parti pour trois heures d'attente.
Heureusement que j'ai ce bouquin. Et puis j'ai des corrections de TP à faire.
J'ai de quoi faire!
Il est 2h30. c'est la quatrième fois que je fais cette même queue qui ne sert à rien depuis Octobre. Ils doivent pas connaître Markov et ses chaînes dans le coin.
Pourquoi n'y a t il qu'une seule personne pour vérifier les dossiers, aiguiller les gens et donner les renseignements?
Et pourquoi cette même personne va demander des renseignements au bureau du chef de service?
Pourquoi le chef de service ne sort jamais pour voir qu'il faudrait quelques embauches dans son service? Qu'il y a effectivement plein d'étrangers à Toulouse, pas assez de personnes pour traiter leurs dossiers et pas assez de chaises pour les faire patienter.

Un gars se greffe au milieu de la file. Il a trop l'air d'un libanais. Pourquoi je ne fais jamais pareil? Ca m'éviterait d'attendre tout ce temps pour rien. De toute façon ce que je doit faire, ça va me prendre 5 minutes, montre en main.
Et puis de toute façon personne ne se plaint. Le gars a grillé dix personnes. Silence radio. Et puis merde, tu vas pas en faire une histoire. Rentre dans le tas, sans faire de bruit et attends.
Brebis... Troupeau.

Il est 3h30, j'arrive enfin au pre acceuil. "pre" accueil! L'accueil sera dans 1 heure?
"Votre carte a été éditée, elle est toujours à Paris (vive la décentralisation), vous serez convoqué dans une quinzaine de jours" (i.e. dans quinze jours, rebelote ... file d'attente, réflexions markovienne et remarques xénophobes sur le nombre d'étrangers à Toulouse)
"Et je peux renouveler mon récépissé"
"Voilà votre numéro, bon courage!"
Ca, le courage, il va m'en falloir.

4h30, il reste dix personnes avant moi, et ce gosse gueule depuis tout à l'heure. Fous lui une claque qu'on en finisse. Sa mère l'emmène. Moment de répit! Elle ne veut pas qu'il pousse sa poussette. Et c'est reparti.

5h, c'est quand même des fonctionnaires, ils finissent à quelle heure normalement? 5h? peut être. En tout cas il reste plus grand monde, c'est bientôt fini.

5h30, c'est bon il reste plus que moi,
"Monsieur vous venez?"
d'un ton très cynique (désespoir) : "oui bien sûr"
5h35, "voilà votre récépissé, attendez une convocation d'ici quinze jours"

Oh god it is really happening. They said July. You were going to be in lebanon in July. They waited for you to leave, and they began withdrawing. But hey, you should be happy. All the stuff you did on March 14th (pre 2000 March 14th, of course). The flyers you were handing to passer by, the activities you organised. Well here it is, the Israelis are leaving. A bigger (much bigger) Arnoun is being freed.

INSA prevails

I received this photo this weekend and would like to share it with its story.


A legend is told in INSA's lonely evenings (INSA is an engineering school in Toulouse):

Once upon the time, during one of INSA's lonely evenings, some INSA students (unknown soldiers) went to Supaero's campus with their Renault 4 (some specimens can be seen in background), attached one of Supaero's Jets they expose (Supaero is yet another engineering school in Toulouse) to their cars and brought the "trophy" back to the INSA campus, painted it in pink, tagged it with some graffitis and left it there for the world to see.

Before this weekend, i thaught the legend was only a legend.

Well, the legend proved not to be a legend after all.

In and Around: Beigbeder's "99 Francs" aka "14.99 €" aka "9.99 £"...

author:
Beigbeder is a french "intellectual"
he used to work as an advertising executive at Young and Rubicam until he got fired after (for) publishing his "99 Francs". Now he's a writer and a publisher. He can lately be seen on Michel Drucker's show on Canal+, Le Grand Journal.

book:
99 Francs is a slightly autobiographical slightly fictional novel (a new genre i just invented) in which Beigbeder tries to point out, cynically, the illnesses of advertising. The ending is a little bit overstretched, but the reading is quite intersting.

ramblings:
Now i'm not going to review the book, i wanted to point out some intersting stuff i read.
This isn't the first anti advertising pamphlet i come about. Several Indymedias, NGOs and blogs shout it quite loud.
Advertising is everywhere and is presented as necessary per se. As is the ambient cosumption that is supposed to make economy turn round (Keynes?).
I have very few knowledge of economics, what i know is that people are invited to become cosumerists. People are invited to buy and they often buy stuff they don't need (the garbage bag) stuff they were made to think they need but they don't really need.
I always thaught and still think that free will exists, and that an advertisement is not the main criteria on wich i base my definition of happiness. But is it really true? it is said that we are subject to 350000 advertisement between birth and our 18 year birthday. The figures are overwhelming, how can i really talk about free will if my favourite chocolate bar has always been kit kat. and this goes as far as i can remember. Is it because i love it or was it because of an advertisement i saw when i was 3 years old.
Somwhere in the begining of the book : "Tout s'achète : l'amour, l'art, la planète Terre, vous, moi." And this can be so true, mnedfa3 7a2o, mnishteri. Advertisement became the new world order and if we wish this to be revoked, for a whole new order to be, a world order of social justice where the average american (or french or german or canadian or lebanese) does not cosume more than 9 average chinese (or nepali or...).

yesterday Barca (won the match) tied but managed to be happy afterwards

i am in barcelona and i did not watch the match
but why would i care

So i'm in barcelona for an IEEE conference. I listen all day long to guys who think they will change the world with the stuff they publish in Infocom's proceedings (and one day i'll become like these guys, telling nerd jokes and laughing along all the nerds around).

Observations :

about barcelona : barcelona is not that spanish after all. to my greatest despair, when i learned spanish back in the time i thaught it'll do me good one day when i go to spain. Now i lost my spanish and the "spanish" in barcelona speak catalan. It's not gracias, it's gràcie.

Barcelona is a magnificent city, with lots of french tourists. Lots of german tourists. Lots of spanish tourists. Cut it short, Lots of tourists.

Gaudi did a great job imagining all the stuff he imagined. Barcelona without Gaudi wouldn't be Barcelona.

about the conference:
Sometimes you get to a phase where you're fed up with all the lebanese you meet abroad. Now in the student workshop, 40 posters were accepted, 5 of them were submitted by lebanese (3 out of 5 are phDing in France (including ma7soubkom), 1 out of 5 in Switzerland, 1 out of 5 in Sweden, which leaves 0 out of 5 in Lebanon).

Mafias exist everywhere, even in IEEE conference.

One eats well in a conference.

Technically, there's quite lots of good stuff.
I've been to a talk by a guy who is supposed to be the guy who imagined the internet and created the principles of packet switching (he was a graduate student at MIT). Now this guy can say he modeled the world as it is now.

about the hotel:

i met in this hostel all kinds of people.

One of them is an iraki journalist. He is here with several other irakis and their kids. They are here because their kids need to be operated. Had several intersting discussions with him on how he sees the situation in Irak then and now.

Pendant ce temps là à Toulouse

Aujourd'hui à Toulouse, et partout en France, le peuple monte d'un cran dans sa "lutte" contre la politique de droite du gouvernement de droite choisi par un parlement de droite élu démocratiquement par un peuple qui voulait en France une politique de droite.
Vive les paradoxes, vive le yoyo.

Ils vont enfin pouvoir discuter, dans la good old tradition libanaise (qui oblige toute rencontre entre libanais d'être précédée par un problème de représentation de l'une des communautés).

Enfin, ils pourront passer à la phase 7iwar, sauf si d'autres problèmes émergent : aux dernières nouvelles: le Ba3th, le SSNP et Oussama Sa3ed souhaitaient participer (hors du bloc Berri) chose que refusent les 14Mars(iens).

En attendant que nos grands dirigeants parviennent à trouver les solutions à tous nos problèmes, ce qui permettra aux libanais de s'aimer à nouveau (et ce jusqu'à nouvel ordre) :

J'ai lu la critique de la gazette de l'Utopia, ils semblent avoir aimé. Reste à voir. Je vous dirais çà.

1860 --> Premiers conflits intercommunautaires opposent les maronites aux druzes dans le Mont Liban : 7-1 = 6

1958 --> Premier conflit civil entre Libanais, une version Béta de ce qui allait se passer quelques années plus tard : 6-1 = 5

1975 --> Guerre civile libanaise qui a durée 15 ans : 5-1=4

1982 --> Occupation de Beyrouth par les israéliens, assassinat de Bachir Gemayel, Sabra et Chatila... : 4-1=3

1989-1990 --> Guerre de "Libération", guerre Aoun-FL, assassinat de René Moawad... : 3-1=2

je ne sais même pas ce qu'ils y faisaient, je n'ai même pas envie de le savoir.
ce que je sais c'est que s'ils discutent aujourd'hui le budget 2005 c'est qu'ils n'ont toujours pas préparé celui de 2006 (qui sera, espérons le, prés à être discuté avant la fin de 2006, histoire que la discussion passe inaperçue).

Et dire que le premier ministre a passé une bonne partie des 15 dernières années ministre du budget.

Et une matinée gâchée, une!

Mauvais réveil ce matin,
C'est très con mais lorsqu'on se couche en espérant que les jours à venir soient mieux et que le lendemain on se retrouve avec les résultats des élections législatives palestiniennes d'hier on n'a qu'une envie, c'est d'aller se recoucher (ce n'était pas la seule raison mais bon!)

Que les élections les plus "démocratiques" des pays arabes envoient au pouvoir le parti politique le plus a-démocratique (ou presque), c'est joli. Voir en plus de ça les pays prônant la démocratie dans le monde s'inquiéter des résultats démocratiques des élections démocratiques, là ça devient cynique!

De toute façon, l'histoire l'a montré, offrez la démocratie à des gens qui ne l'ont jamais appréciée à sa juste valeur et vous vous récupèrerez dans la figure les comportements les plus antidémocratique, tout à fait démocratiquement.

Il y a quelques jours, une amie à moi a trouvé dans mes rangements un vieux drapeau libanais et l'a accroché sur l'un des murs dégarnis de mon studio à Toulouse. Elle pensait que c'était dommage qu'il reste rangé dans un carton et que, en plus, son rouge allait très bien avec l'ambiance générale.

Il y a quelques jours, en rentrant chez moi, ce fut un choc de voir ce drapeau accroché sur mon mur. Un mélange de sentiments qui me semblent toujours incohérent. Pourtant, durant les 2 premières années de mon "expatriation", ce même drapeau était accroché sur le mur.
Qu'est ce qui a pu changer depuis?

Moi certainement, cela fait tellement longtemps que je ne suis plus le même.

Mais je me rends compte que, cette dernière année, le drapeau aussi a changé.
Ce drapeau a été utilisé à tort et à travers par des gens couvrant tout le spectre sociopolitique libanais (et autres).

Il a été utilisé pour étaler dans les places de Beyrouth une prétendue unité nationale.

Il a aussi été utilisé pour signifier une haine de l'étranger, syrien et palestinien confondus.

Il a été un commerce très rentable pour certains, profitant de ce réveil nationaliste qu'ont vécu les libanais (et non pas le Liban la2anno byefrod).

Il a subi des surenchères, de part et d'autre. Lequel des groupes pourra faire respecter, au mieux, la consigne : 100% Libanais avec des drapeaux libanais (w bass).

Du drapeau lui même, il ne reste pas grand chose, et ce qu'il en reste est tellement mitigé.

Aussi j'ai pris une décision.

Il y a quelques jours j'ai décidé que mon drapeau devait, le temps qu'il faut pour que sa signification, la vraie, s'éclaircisse, revenir là ou il a passé ces quatre dernières années, dans un carton.

المطلوب من كل مواطن ان يكون خفيراً لهذا "السلم الأهلي".

ان يرفض كل مواطن السلاح الذي يوزَّع عليه، ولو قيل له انه لحمايته وضمان سلامة بيته وأهله.

فالسلاح يستدرج سلاحاً مقابلاً، من أين أتى... والآتي مجاناً أدهى خطراً من الذي يشتريه واحدنا بما تبقى له من عرق جبينه، لأنه سيكون ثمناً لدمائه قبل ان يُسيل دم أشقائه في الوطنية... ولو صُوِّر له انه لمقاومةٍ وهمية ما، وللدفاع عن حدود وطن صارت في غير مكانها.

المطلوب حركة تمرد عظمى على الحرب، كل حرب، أياً كان الذي يشعلها وكيفما كانت الصورة التي تزيَّن بها... فمن الرصاصة الأولى ستشتعل بقية الرصاصات، وكلها قتّالة مجرمة، وكلها مشبوهة... وكذلك القنابل وشحنات الديناميت والصواعق، سواء جاءتنا براً او بحراً أو هبطت علينا من سماء مجهولة الآلهة.

وليعلم الذي يطلق الرصاصة الاولى انه يكون هو الذي "استطلق" الرصاصة الاخيرة في حرب قد لا يبقى منها "مخبِّر" عن مجرياتها والبطولات والمآثر والشهادات...

فحذارِ... ولن يدين التاريخ أحداً ولن يبرئ أحداً، لأنه لن يبقى منا ولنا تاريخ يقرأه جيل يظل حياً وعاقلاً.

Jumblat

Il y a quelques semaines, Jumblat disait vouloir protéger la résistance. Aujourd'hui, il dit qu'elle n'a plus lieu d'être. Pourtant les donnes n'ont pas énormément changé à ce niveau.

Il y a quelques années, Jumblat était prêt à exécuter tout ce que les syriens lui demanderaient, aujourd'hui il demande à HezbAllah de définir son allégeance.

من سمير القنطار إلى وليد كمال جنبلاط:

عندما غادرت شاطئ مدينة صور ليلة 22 نيسان 1979، كنت أستعيد في ذاكرتي شريط الأحداث الذي طبع طفولتي وريعان شبابي. كنت أستعيد في تلك اللحظات الدقيقة والحساسة التي يجب على المرء خلالها أن يمتلك من الاستعداد النفسي والمعنوي الشيء الكثير. وكان كمال جنبلاط بقامته الكبيرة حاضراً في مخيلتي يخطب أمام الذين ليس على صدورهم قميص <<أن الحياة انتصار للأقوياء في نفوسهم لا للضعفاء>>.
كانت هذه المقولة تستحضر في مخيلتي في كل اللحظات الصعبة والمريرة، عندما تلاطمت الأمواج وكادت تغرق الزورق المطاطي الذي كان يحملني مع ثلاثة من رفاقي إلى أرض فلسطين الحبيبة، وعندما تجمع حولي زمرة الحاقدين الصهاينة بعد أن فقدت القدرة على الحركة جراء إصابتي بخمس رصاصات في جميع أنحاء جسدي وراحوا ينكلون بي في أرض المعركة، وعندما أطفأ المحقق السجائر في يدي في أقبية التعذيب في سجن الصرفند، وعندما جرى عزلي العام الماضي في سجن الجلمة بعد 8 أيام بدون طعام وكان الجوع يأكل جسدي، كانت هذه الكلمات زادي المعنوي الكبير الذي ما زلت أفتخر وأعتز به.
اليوم ها اني أجلس حزيناً في غرفتي في معتقل هداريم أشاهد على التلفاز ابن هذا الرجل الكبير الذي قال يوماً <<ان السلاح زينة الرجال والنصر يا رفاقي آت لا محال>>، أراه واقفاً يخطب على بعد أمتار من المكان الذي يرقد فيه كمال جنبلاط.
وليد كمال جنبلاط، يعزّ عليّ ويحزنني أن أسمعك وأراك متوتراً تطلق تصريحات لا تمت إلى تاريخك النضالي ولا إلى التراث السياسي العريق لهذا البيت الذي أصابته النكسات تلو النكسات منذ قرون وبقي قلعة المقاومة والصمود في وجه الغزاة.
وليد كمال جنبلاط، أنا الموقع أدناه سمير القنطار، ابن مدرسة كمال جنبلاط وجمال عبد الناصر، ابن جبل العروبة الذي أنبت حماة الثغور، أعلن بأن أي كلام تخويني بحق سلاح المقاومة وبحق الإخوة في <<حزب الله>> يطالني في الصميم وهو طعنة عميقة أصابتني بجرح لن يندمل إلا حين تعود إلى موقعك الطبيعي، وليد جنبلاط حفيد شكيب ارسلان وابن كمال جنبلاط وسليل الجبل الذي لن يكون إلا جبل المقاومة. آمل أن يلقى هذا النداء الاستجابة الفورية وأن لا يفسر أبداً في خانة التخوين أو التضليل.
ما دفعني إلى الكتابة هو شوقي لان يكون يوم حريتي ويوم استقبالي على أرض وطني وفي بلدتي يوماً يكون فيه الغزاة في العراق قد عادوا إلى حيث أتوا لا أن يكونوا في انتظاري على مدرج المطار لكي يقتادوني إلى معتقل غوانتانامو.
